Cold crates maintained a constant low temperature through the use of a cryogenic unit mounted on one end, aided by insulated casing. Each cold crate had sufficient power to maintain a frozen temperature for up to 50 hours. A common model was the SoroSuub CLD-50 Cryo-Case, which cost around 250 credits. On one occasion, Platt Okeefe smuggled ryll spice in the bottom of a cold crate covered by frella fish. When she was boarded by the Victory I-class Star Destroyer Sentinel, they failed to find the ryll in the crate.
