The father of Paula Becker was employed as an engineer on the railroad, his family moved from Dresden to Bremen in 1888 and lived in this house. Paula Becker lived here until 1899 - when she was 23 years old - and set up her first studio. The life of artists at that time was very active in Bremen and her mother's friendships to the artistic circles in Bremen, she got close contact, so that the Becker family took part very emotionally. Apart from her teacher's training in Bremen in 1893-1895, Paula took private instruction in painting.
