William Charles Bonney (1888-1967) was a local politician in the Wandsworth area. A member of Wandsworth Borough Council, he was Mayor of Wandsworth for six consecutive terms from 1938-44. He was also appointed to the London County Council to fill a wartime vacancy in April 1940 in the representation of Wandsworth, Balham and Tooting as a Municipal Reform Party councillor, holding the seat until the next elections in 1946 when he was defeated.

He was also appointed to the London County Council to fill a wartime vacancy in April 1940 in the representation of Wandsworth, Balham and Tooting as a Municipal Reform Party councillor, holding the seat until the next elections in 1946 when he was defeated. He returned to the county council at the 1949 election as a Conservative Party councillor for Wandsworth, Clapham. He stood down from the county council at the 1952 elections, but continued to hold office as an alderman on Wandsworth Borough Council. He was admitted as the first honorary freeman of the Borough of Wandsworth on 10 May 1950. He was awarded the CBE in the New Year's Honours 1955 for political and public services in London". A Wandsworth council housing estate in Clapham was named the William Bonney Estate in his honour.
