| Synopsis
| - When a villain from Earth-Two, Captain Challenge, travels to Earth-One to try and commit crimes Hal Jordan calls in his pal Alan Scott, the Green Lantern from Captain Challenge's universe. During the fight, Hal has to hold back because Challenge is using a ray that fires yellow beams, however Alan -- his power-ring having no weakness to yellow -- goes into the fray and easily defeats his foe. During the fight Hal notices that Alan is touchy about his age and wonders what's wrong. Challenge is easily defeated and Alan returns to his home of Gotham City on Earth-Two where he resumes his civilian guise as owner of the Gotham Broadcasting Channel and hopes that things on his home Earth are not as hectic.
His hopes are dashed when his secretary tells him that two of his employees are fighting in the newsroom. Alan arrives to break it up, but not before one of the employees is knocked out and needs medical attention. When he questions the instigator he learns that the employee just suddenly snapped. Alan has to abandon his enquiry when reports of robberies springing up all over town prompt him to go into action as the Green Lantern. After a day of breaking up crimes, the Green Lantern is about to call it a day when a secret alarm he put around his friend Bruce Wayne's mansion while Bruce is away goes off. Green Lantern arrives to find it being robbed by a crook. Alan is shocked to find that his power ring has run out of power and has to fight the crook hand-to-hand. Alan is modified when he is almost bludgeoned to death by the crook and quickly knocks him out.
Changing back to his civilian guise and returning home, Alan ponders the state of the world. Listening to the radio news does not help his mood as it is filled with stories of violence and conflict all over the world. Wondering what sort of impact he has on the world, Alan decides to do something he's always thought of but never quite had the courage to do: Use his power ring to command all evil to cease to exist. This causes everyone on Earth-Two to suddenly vanish, including Alan Scott, leaving behind only his power ring.
Back on Earth-One, Hal Jordan returns from a mission in space to find a large mass of people frozen in suspended animation in the Utah Salt Flats. Scanning them with his power ring he learns that they all come from Earth-Two and decides to check out what happened there. Travelling to the Earth-Two dimension Hal finds that everyone on the planet is missing and comes across Alan's power ring. Realizing that Alan must also be trapped like everyone else, he travels back to Earth-One, finds Alan and frees him from his trance state and learns what happened.
Alan realizes the folly in his idea: Because every human being is capable of being evil, his power ring command worked a little too well and immobilized everyone. Hal gives Alan a pep-talk to never give up no matter how bleak things may be he should never give up being a champion of Earth-Two. The two then use their combined power rings to return everyone to Earth-Two. There, Hal drops Alan off in his human guise so that Alan can visit his co-worker in the hospital. Before returning to Earth-One, Hal's power ring picks up a pirate VHF signal of crooks planning to go and murder Alan's co-worker in the hospital. Hal arrives just to see Alan beating up the crooks, afterwards Alan tells Hal to join him back at the GBC station. There Alan quickly takes down the other employee that put his man in the hospital. Later back in their civilian guises, Alan tells Hal that he had found out that the crooks were using the one employee as a means of getting exclusive information from the news station, when the other employee found out the truth, they tried to silence him. Alan tells Hal that he's realized that when it comes to saving the world, sometimes you have to do it one conflict at the time and you have to start with the small injustices first.
