Charles Martel is the Frankish hero unit in the campaign of Tours in the Conqueror's Campaigns. Martel has the appearance of a Throwing Axeman, but has better stats, including noticeably longer range. Like other infantry, Charles Martell is affected by all upgrades that affect infantry as well as any civilization bonuses that affect them. As with all heroes, Charles Martell can self regenerate and cannot be converted. Unlike many other heroes, Charles Martel does not have to live in order to win the scenario.

  • Charles Martel (c. 688 – 22 October 741) was a Frankish statesman and military leader who, as Duke and Prince of the Franks and Mayor of the Palace, was de facto ruler of Francia from 718 until his death.
  • Now here is a name to make you wish you were an 8th century Frank: Charles Martel (c. 688 – 22 October 741), Hammer time conqueror of the Arabs and Western Europe's first he-man monarch since the days of Clovis the Frank and Theodoric the Great. Built like a French front row rugby player but with the grace of a male ballerina, Charles Martel was the man who saved Europe from Islam and hot spicy food for a millennium. His victory at the Battle of Tours in 732 was so famous that today no is actually sure where it happened or if 732 is the correct year.
