The save percentage is a statistic about the Goaltenders. It is calculated by dividing the number of shots saved (stopped) by the Goaltender by the number of shots on goal. It is usually given as a decimal. Thus .900 indicates that 90% of the shots were saved. This statistic is considered a better indication of a Goaltender's ability than Goals against average.
