| - The KJN-040 Munjaclass fast-attack cruisers of RTSE warships represents the only exception to the traditional warship design philosophy of the RTSE. A swift, narrow-profiled, elegant medium cruiser capable of speed and acceleration surpassing that of most standard fighter craft, these vessels are the exact opposite of the lumbering Kurgarin dreadnoughts. Designed with two fleet roles in mind: Hit and fade attacks and fleet point defense support, they excel at both of these tasks. Rumor had it that Deathstrike herself took a personal role in designing these vessels, making a case to her Master once that the RTSE warships are too "ponderous" to be fully effective in changing combat conditions. Lord Darkon gave her a free hand in directing the spaceframe design teams when the prototype KJN-040 was built, and this was the result of her involvement. The Munjas pay for their alacrity with thin armor and relatively weak hull, though their shielding is quite powerful for a ship of that size. Seeing these ships perform in field trials, Lord Darkon assigned them to a point support and hit-and-fade role, and directing the design teams to arm the ships accordingly, with an emphasis on lighter rapid-fire blaster cannons and Gauss chainguns. This is where his and his apprentice's views diverged, as Deathstrike wanted them to be armed with a greater number of long-range high-powered turbolaser batteries, to circle the perimeter of the battle, their superior speed and acceleration keeping them out of range of larger enemy vessels and allowing them to outrun enemy missiles, while their long-range weapons would sting the enemy at range. Naturally, Lord Darkon's decision prevailed, being the Master, and it proved to be the correct one. In the massive battle of the Akates System, the Munjas were crucial on both fronts, their myriad Gauss chainguns annihilating enemy missiles, fighters and bombers like flies, their speed and maneuverability allowing them to quickly and efficiently intercept any threat to the main body of the fleet, while their narrowed profile and high maneuverability making them difficult targets for NEF and TEC capital ships. Although, their distinct lack of ship-to-ship armaments made the Munjas a prime target for lighter enemy warships, especially NEF Talon class strike cruisers, whose speed was close enough to the Munjas to allow them to get within close-combat range, and whose ship-to-ship armament considerably overshadowed that of the Munjas. Many were lost, but they did prove their worth in annihilating literally thousands of enemy fighters and bombers, as well as heavy tactical missiles. Some Munjas are equipped with an advanced scanner package and sensor arrays, serving in advance scout groups as excellent long-range surveillance vessels. One such group, commanded by Captain Boljak, provided the RTSE with early warning and sensor scans of the NEF ships, and was later instrumental in detecting a force of NEF cloaked scouts in close proximity to the RTSE fleet. Rumor also had it that Deathstrike had commissioned her own battlegroup of Munjas armed to her specifications, their hulls lined with sensor-stealth materials, for use in covert operations. All in all, the Munja-class is a highly capable warship in the roles it was designed for, but should not be relied on to be the primary attack force in the fleet.
