The Fabularies are a set of fairy tale books that are mentioned in Might and Magic: The Dreamwright and Might and Magic: The Shadowsmith. They portrayed great heroes and mythical beings going on legendary quests and fighting horrible monsters, and were popular in both The Wheel and Jogjaw Pass. Unlike the stories in the Elucidaries, which depicted the colonization of the planet by the Ancients, the tales in the Fabularies were fictional.

Unlike the stories in the Elucidaries, which depicted the colonization of the planet by the Ancients, the tales in the Fabularies were fictional. Dubiel, the Shadowsmith, appeared in the books as the King of Evil's son. He was always clad in red, and Diligence called him "the monster children feared when the last candle was blown out at night" When Hitch's group was traveling through the Blasted Lands in the broken remains of an old wagon, Varve and Hitch spent the time reciting stirring passages from the Fabularies. At one point in their travels, Hitch described Carverax as looking like an ancient hero from the Fabularies. He then realized, with a small tingle up his spine, that it might actually be true.
