Atmospheric storms in Aether's atmosphere cause Samus to crash into the Temple Grounds at the beginning of Echoes. Unable to escape the planet, Samus leaves her ship to repair itself and proceeds to investigate the disappearance of GFMC Task Force Herakles and the cause of the storms. Holograms can be seen on the ship as it repairs, which takes until the end of the game. As Samus returns to her ship after restoring each Energy Controller, scanning the ship shows that repairs are rising from 23% completion to 57% and finally 86%.

As Samus returns to her ship after restoring each Energy Controller, scanning the ship shows that repairs are rising from 23% completion to 57% and finally 86%. The auto-repair function is again required during Corruption, after Samus' Gunship sustains significant damage from Ghor's attacks. Samus is able to command it to fly away while she battles him, and then to fly back after his death. It is unable to be flown again after this until repairs are complete, which happens around the time Samus returns to the Spire Dock after interfacing with Aurora Unit 217. The ship's auto-repair in Corruption is noticeably faster than in Echoes. It is also possible that the auto-repair function activates if Samus' ship is damaged by an Anti-Air Cannon "Tiamat" on Bryyo.
