The Murloc is Lonely is an in-progress fan trilogy, written by Albatros and located at his website, Albatros Bits. It follows several characters based on World of Warcraft Community Managers (e.g. Fangtooth and Caydiem) which work for the mysterious, all-powerful, and clearly-allegorical Law. Despite its inclusion of CM characters, its scope and tone are fairly epic, and growing moreso as the trilogy progresses. (It's currently about a third of the way through its second book, The Emerald Queen - believed to be a reference to Ysera.)

  • The Murloc is Lonely is an in-progress fan trilogy, written by Albatros and located at his website, Albatros Bits. Despite its inclusion of CM characters, its scope and tone are fairly epic, and growing moreso as the trilogy progresses. (It's currently about a third of the way through its second book, The Emerald Queen - believed to be a reference to Ysera.) The story is set 700 years in Warcraft's future, and so makes lots of assumptions, but seems to follow existing lore quite closely, adapting to new content and such (e.g. the Azuremyst Isles appear in a flyover scene). Though it is at times dark and serious, the story also follows Blizzard's lead in keeping a light tone at times, with character banter, pop culture references (Fight Club, Top Gun), and WoW in-jokes (e.g. campfires raise characters' spirits; a character at one point references specially-baked bread with a flat top, meant to stack in your backpack). The Murloc is Lonely had been spotlighted by the old Official cite several times, and appeared in the Community Spotlight Archive (now defunct).
