Theodore Sturgeon (born Edward Hamilton Waldo, February 26, 1918 - May 8, 1985) was an American science fiction author. Although his most highly regarded complete work is the novel More Than Human (1953), his most enduring contribution to culture may be the Star Trek Vulcan slogan "Live long and prosper," which first appeared in the 1967 teleplay "Amok Time," credited to him.
