  • Clive Selsby Revill (born April 18, 1930) is a New Zealander actor. While he has been nominated for a Tony Award twice and a Golden Globe once, his most prominent role is the voice of Emperor Palpatine in The Empire Strikes Back — or it was, until he was replaced with Ian McDiarmid in the DVD release. He has made a number of prominent guest appearances on television, on programs like Columbo, Dynasty, and The Closer. He also played Alfred Pennyworth in the first few episodes of Batman: The Animated Series.
