- Maxwell Smart is the main character on the show Get Smart. Max is an agent for the agency CONTROL. Max, code named agent 86, is one of CONTROL's most successful agents but in no way due to his own skills. In truth Max has a profound case of dumb luck that his superior, The Chief, openly acknowledges and does not like to rely on, but at the end of the day considers the results top priory. Max works with fellow agent 99, whom he eventually marries. Max has little athletic skill, problem solving ability and frequently breaks or miss-uses his gear and gadgets but if he possesses any true skill it is the ability to prod at his foes to make them even more careless than him.
