- In 2257, the planet was visited by the Constitution-class starship, USS Farragut. While landing parties were surveying the planet, they were attacked by a dikironium cloud creature. Following this attack the creature proceeded to go into space and entered the Farragut. Once entering the Farragut, the creature proceeded to kill 200 crewmembers including Captain Garrovick. It was a case of poetic justice when the creature was destroyed by Kirk on the planet in 2268 with a large antimatter device which was detonated when the creature tried to attack it. (TOS episode: "Obsession")

Lieutenant Commander Arlene Fukai, a crewmember aboard the USS Enterprise-D, was born on this non-Federation planet. In 2328, this was the home for the Tycho IV Spaceport. (TNG-R: "Inheritance" ) In 2369, this planet was listed on the chart "USS Enterprise Personnel Database", which was seen on Jean-Luc Picard's PADD on aboard the Enterprise-D. Then-Lieutenant James Kirk survived the ordeal. In 2268, now-USS Enterprise Captain Kirk returned to Tycho IV to determine if it was the Dikironium cloud creature's home. Kirk and Garrovick's son, Steven, beamed down with an antimatter bomb. The bomb destroyed the creature and ripped half of Tycho IV's atmosphere away. (TOS: "Obsession")

Während der Mission begegnet die Besatzung der einheimischen Lebensform, der Dikironium-Nebelkreatur. Als die Kreatur die Farragut angreift, feuert Lieutenant James T. Kirk den Phaser zu spät ab, da Kirk auf diese Kreatur panisch reagiert hat. Durch den Angriff der Dikironium-Nebelkreatur sterben über 200 Personen, mehr als die Hälfte der Crew, unter anderem auch der kommandierende Offizier Captain Garrovick. Kirk überlebt diesen Angriff, aber er gibt sich nun die Schuld für den Angriff der Kreatur, da er zu spät die Phaser abgeschossen hat. Im Jahr 2268 trifft Captain Kirk wieder auf die Dikironium-Nebelkreatur auf Argus X. Dort greift diese ein Außenteam an und tötet einige Crewmitglieder. Kirk sieht in dieser Kreatur noch immer eine Gefahr und verfolgt diese mit der USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) bis nach Tycho IV. Kirk will nun die Bedrohung, welche von dieser Kreatur ausgeht, auslöschen. Auf dem Flug nach Tycho IV, erkennt Kirk, dass Phaser auf die Kreatur keine Wirkung haben und er damals für den Angriff nichts dafür gekonnt hat. Begleitet von Fähnrich Garrovick beamt er mit einer Antimateriebombe auf die Oberfläche von Tycho IV. Kirk und Garrovick locken die Kreatur mit einigen Blutproben an und lassen die Bombe detonieren. Durch die Explosion wird die Kreatur mitsamt dem Großteil des unbewohnten Planeten zerstört. (TOS: ) 2328 befindet sich auf Tycho IV der Tycho IV Spaceport. (TNG: )

During the mission, the Farragut crew encountered the planet's native dikironium cloud creature, an encounter that ultimately cost the lives of two hundred men, over half the crew, including the ship's commanding officer Captain Garrovick. Lieutenant James Kirk experienced survivor's guilt at being one of the lucky half of Farragut's crew to leave Tycho alive. While Kirk hunted the creature years later after encountering it again on Argus X as captain of the USS Enterprise, he followed up on a hunch which led him to Tycho IV. The creature was preparing to reproduce by fission, into thousands and had to be stopped. Assisted by Ensign Garrovick, the son of his former captain, he beamed down to Tycho IV with an antimatter bomb, which destroyed the creature, cratered the planet, and blasted half its atmosphere into space. For many years, James T. Kirk believed that had he not hesitated in firing phasers at the creature before it entered the ship, that all their lives could be saved. However, it was revealed in 2268 during an encounter between the creature and the USS Enterprise, that the creature was impervious to phaser fire. (TOS episode: "Obsession", TOS - My Brother's Keeper novel: Constitution) It was a case of poetic justice when the creature was destroyed by Kirk on the planet in 2268 with a large antimatter device which was detonated when the creature tried to attack it. (TOS episode: "Obsession") The Ashes of Eden presents a simulation of an alternate mission to Tycho IV in a different manner than what was described in My Brother's Keeper: Constitution. In this version, Kirk and Androvar Drake beamed down to the planet to locate the creature, and after hesitating to fire, the creature proceeded to destroy the Farragut.
