Er ist nach dem Trinärsystem Alpha Centauri und dem Barnards Stern der fünftnächste Stern zur Sonne mit einer Entfernung von ca. 7,8 Lichtjahren. Als Data und Jean-Luc Picard 2371 in der Stellarkartographie nach dem Grund suchen, aus dem Tolian Soran die Amargosa-Sonne zerstört hat, wird der Name dieses Systems in der Stellarkartographie angezeigt.
