To make sure there would be no one to oppose him, he cursed the Elf Prince who was about to be declared King, and disguised himself as the King of Western Keep. When the Warriors of Light arrive he asks them to get his crown so that he may restore his castle, but after getting the crown Astos reveals his true form. After he is defeated the curse upon the Elf Prince dissapears, and all of the elves thank the Warriors of Light for their help.

  • In Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls and future remakes, Astos appears in the Whisperwind Cove. There is a room with flame-like spirits which must be calmed so they can go rest in peace. One of those souls is Astos, seeking revenge and attacking the party when he encounters them. After his soul is destroyed, he curses the Warriors of Light before fading away.
  • As part of his plan to conquer the prince's kingdom, Astos disguised himself as a kindly elven friar and hypnotized Kevin Keene. Kevin slipped a potion into the prince's drink that caused him to fall asleep, and Astos fled to his castle and used Kevin to train his warriors. Princess Lana, Mega Man, and Kid Icarus managed to infiltrate the castle and reclaim the witch's stolen Light Crystal, which broke the spell on Kevin and revealed Astos and his warriors for the monsters they were. They then fled from the castle with Astos in hot pursuit, escaping him by leaping over the moat as the castle drawbridge closed.
  • Astos was a City State of the Farthest East and a traditional trading partner of the Orizians and Zettans, effectively connecting the Eastern Sea with the Northern Seas.
  • Astos (ASTOS w wersji NES) to zły król Mrocznych Elfów (Dark Elves) w oryginalnym Final Fantasy.
  • Despite the fact that Dark Elves hadn't been seen in years, they still existed. The Dark Elf King Astos and his son, Drizz'l, hatched an evil plan to plunge Elfland into a new Dark Age. Astos, taking on the psuedonym of Chancellor Usurper, became an advisor to the King, ultimately hiring Doctor Malpractice to incapacitate the King and paying him well to keep him incapacitated. He sought to do the same to The Prince, only the Prince escaped before Doctor Malpractice could get to him. Malpractice, however, kept the Prince's disappearance a secret so that Usurper would continue to pay him off, as well as putting the Prince's ill-gotten gains into his own bank account.
