- Gungans were an amphibious sentient species and the native inhabitants of the planet Naboo. The various different Gungan races could live on both water and land, but often made their home in underwater cities such as Otoh Gunga. Physically, Gungans were tall humanoids with a flexible structure, strong leg muscles, strong bills, muscular tongues, and many other traits designed for living in the waters of Naboo.
- Cities like Otah Gunga were domed underwater places sealed off from the ocean using shield barriers. In fact the Gungans were experts at manipulating energy fields and featured such technology in the weapons. These weapons most common were mostly small amounts of plasma from the underwater core of the planet Naboo contained in a suspension field which would break when impacting an object releasing the plasma inside. In addition their armies used massive shield generators to protect themselves in battle.
- Gungans are a race of aquatic humanoids. The Gungans are actually two separate races: The Otolla Gungans and the Ankura Gungans. The Otolla Gungans are thin and lanky, while the Ankura Gungans are usually fat and bulky (Boss Nass is an Ankura Gungan.) - Homeworld: Naboo Description: The Gungans have humanoid bodies, but their heads are elongated with large, dangling finlike ears. They live in underwater cities on the planet Naboo. The principal Gungan character in the movies is Jar Jar Binks; the ruler of the Gungans is Boss Nass. The only other Gungan to be given a name in the films is Captain Tarpals, though the novelization also mentions a General Ceel though some games have shown other leaders including Boss Gallo. After the Battle of Naboo, the Gungans attained representation in the Senate through Representative Jar Jar Binks.
- Gungans are tall humanoids with a bill-like mouth, large nostrils which close when they are diving, and very long ears which aid in swimming. Their eyes have nictitating membranes (transparent eyelids) in order to see underwater. The Otolla subspecies is leaner, have a long neck and short partially-retractable eyestalks, unlike the stout Ankura subspecies. Gungans are omnivorous and have strong teeth and a long extendable tongue used to capture food. Some Otolla Gungans develop short catfish whiskers as they age.
