  • He is a large human-like monster with three torsos. Unlike the rest of his multi-headed siblings, Geryon's heds think in unison rather than each head having a mind of its own. He used to be the boyfriend of Princess Lavinia, but after their relationship ended, he became overly emotional and prone to fits of sobbing when he thinks about her. He even develops a friendship with Hercules when he finds out that he also got dumped by his girlfriend. Later on Geryon discovers that Lavinia is in love with Hercules and believes that Hercules betrayed him causing him to fight Hercules in a blind rage. Luckily Hercules convinces Lavinia to get back together with Geryon thus restoring their relationship.

  • The tenth labour of Herakles was to steal the Cattle of Geryon. Herakles first fought Geryon's servant, Eurytion, and Orthos, and killed all of them, then stole the cattle.
  • Geryon was often described as a monster with human faces. According to Hesiod Geryon had one body and three heads, whereas the tradition followed by Aeschylus gave him three bodies. A lost description by Stesichoros said that he has six hands and six feet and is winged; there are some mid-sixth century Chalcidian vases portraying Geryon as winged. Some accounts state that he had six legs as well while others state that the three bodies were joined to one pair of legs. Apart from these weird features, his appearance was that of a warrior. He owned a two-headed hound named Orthrus, which was the brother of Cerberus, and a herd of magnificent red cattle that were guarded by Orthrus, and a herder Eurytion, son of Erytheia.
  • Geryon is the son of Chrysaor and Callirrhoe and is the grandson of Medusa. He was a fearsome giant who dwelt on the island Erytheia of the mythic Hesperides in the far west of the Mediterranean. A more literal-minded later generation of Greeks associated the region with Tartessos in southern Iberia.

  • Heracles came to steal the cattle from Geryon as part of his 10th labour. Whilst he was travelling through the desert, Heracles, tired of the burning sun, shot an arrow at Helios. Helios, in admiration, gave him a golden cup, which he used to sail to Geryon's island home. Heracles killed Geryon and Orthrus with posionous arrows and stole the cattle.

According to Hesiod, Geryon had one body and three heads, while Aeschylus gave him three bodies, some versions state that he had six legs or that his three bodies were connected by his legs. • The archdevil Geryon (pronounced JER-ee-ehn) is the master of swampy Stygia, Hell's fifth layer. Physical Description: A titan of living blasphemy, Geryon rises taller than any other archfiend, a mountain of bestial muscle and chimerical features. From the waist down undulate the coils of a tremendous python, their envenomed scales capable of crushing legions within their lethal embrace. Above, the archfiend’s body splits in three, the torsos of a trio of indomitable warriors rising forth, each wielding a deadly infernal weapon, an archaic shield, or the Horn of Lies, the instrument by which Geryon spreads new heresies throughout the multiverse. Although often shielded by elaborate helms, at least one of Geryon’s heads always remains unarmored, revealing his angular, snake-like features, r
  • Grid computing is everywhere it seems, and one of the obvious applications of Inferno is grid computing. As usual, I know little about it aside from reading a few papers to get me enthused enough to make some effort in that area. If I read all the current research I'd have little time to do the programming. So instead I'll jump in and see if I can swim. I'm trying to setup a simple grid, with tools for MapReduce functionality. I'm calling this system Geryon (because things need names).
