- The Decepticons are an organization of villainous machines from the Transformers multiverse that broke away from the Autobots, causing a civil war that lasted for thousands of millennia. They are usually portrayed as the main antagonists of the Transformers franchise. There is a military subdivision of the Decepticons called the Decepticlones, who are non-sentient artificially programmed foot soldiers designed to execute Megatron's bidding and destroy all Autobots.
- The Decepticon/Autobot war started millions of years ago, and began when the last available shop on Cybertron couldn't be divided between the two factions; the Autobots wanted an Ottakars, while the Decepticons demanded an Ann Summers. (Side note: for all their beliefs of non-violence, it is strongly upheld that it was an Autobot who fired the first shot. Probably Prowl, dodgy coppers and all that. His name is not known for sure, it is rumored that he was one of the early models of a Hansolobot)
- Decepticons are a guild based of of the Transformers Universe. The Guild Master Galvatron stresses to live like a Decepticon, to be evil with honor. Decepticons culture includes following the guild rules, not attacking high level guilds or allies. The Decepticons split control of the Alphaverse by factions, one faction leader controls all guild members in a galaxy set (example being A01- A15). Each faction member then respond directly to Galvatron.

- The Decepticons were originally formed due to differences in philosophy between Straxus and Alpha Trion during the golden era of Cybertron. Straxus considered it paramount to Cybertron's survival and continued well-being that the planet be made militarily strong and subdue any potential adversaries before they could pose a significant threat and repeat the enslavement endured during the years of Quintesson rule. During a critical energy shortage, a heated argument erupted between the two leaders as to whether it was within their rights to take energy from a system inhabited by a sentient yet undeveloped race. Straxus's proposal for taking whatever was necessary despite the consequences to the native species was voted down in council, but despite this he led a group to harvest enough energy
