- Cypress is the receptionist at the Mimicology Department, which is located right next door to the Housing Department Window on the top-most floor of Nidaria. He is a Ferric of unknown tribal origins, as is his brother Sycamore, who runs the neighboring department. While Sycamore seems fairly bored by his job, Cypress seems comparatively excited to be where he is.
- Takigakure, having been betrayed by Kakuzu sometime before the First Shinobi World War, needed a way to protect its villagers and treasures respectively. With this in mind, the new village elders, who replaced the one's killed by Kakuzu, and the second village leader of Takigakure decided to form an organization; the ANBU. They created the organization in order to prevent future occurrences, like the incident with Kakuzu, from happening again. They tasked the organization with the protection of the village and it's treasures so that both remain safe and protected.
- Cypresses were evergreen trees which were most common in the cold north of Rokugan. Their wood was commonly used as timber, to craft barrels for breweries, as example. The cypress imparted a woody spiciness to the sake brew that was considered desirable.
