Geoffrey of Anjou was the founder of the Plantagenet Kings. He wore a wild planta ginesta on his hat, therefore the name. He was the father of Henry II and grandfather of Richard the Lionheart and John. An enamel portrait of 1158 was kept in the secret storage of Château Gaillard and was still around in Arthur's time.
