The Regulators accepted an exclusive contract to serve as the military and police force of Makeb, located on the edge of Hutt Space, in 3649 BBY. Ten years later, the Hutt Cartel prepared for its takeover of Makeb, and bribed several high-ranking officers of the Regulators to aid them in staging a coup. Many rank-and-file members refused to betray the people they had been hired to protect, but ended up being executed by their former comrades or fleeing the planet.
