Bedford College was a college of the University of London founded for the education of women in 1849. The college became co-educational in the 1960s before being merged with the Royal Holloway College in 1985 to form Royal Holloway and Bedford New College, generally known as Royal Holloway, University of London. The college was originally sited in Bedford Square, from which it took its name. In 1874 it moved to a site off Baker Street and to Regents Park in 1913.
