Story by Joseph Payne Brennan, published in The Hastur Cycle. Sydney Mellor Madison rents an isolated lodge in New England from Conway Kempton in order to write, but is attacked by The Feaster From Afar (apparently an avatar of Hastur with a similar appearance to a Byakhee, possibly derived from the description of Hastur as bat-like in The House in the Valley) which devours his brain. He calls out to Hastur as he is attacked.
