On October 5, 2990, Will was imprisoned by the Ruffians when he protested and refused to allow them to take control of Bag End. He spent nearly a month in imprisonment, until he was released after the Scouring of the Shire. He was soon recovered from his imprisonment and killed at least 3 Ruffians near the end of the battle.
