McConnell Tractors was formed in 1989 as part of McConnell, LTD. with the purchase of Massey-Ferguson's 4wd articulated tractor. McConnell had been formed in 1961 by Ward McConnell. His company purchased the Marshall Tractor Co. of England, (formerly Leyland), and sold it in 1985. McConnell bought the Chisholm-Ryder Company in 1986, which manufactured combines, bean harvesters, grape harvesters and converted Farmall tractors into High-Crop models. The United Company, makers of in-plant corn equipment, was purchased in 1987. In 1987, they began redistributing re-manufactured Kubotas. Image:MF 5200 4WD (McConnell) brochure.jpg
