The God Machine was a life-form created by the Panjistri in their laboratory on Kandasi. They selected the wisest and most talented Kirithons and distilled their essences into one omnipotent and omniscient being, which resembled a golden sphere several miles in diameter. The Panjistri hoped that when the God Machine was completed, it would then be able to prevent the end of the universe. The Timewyrm, who had possessed the Grand Matriarch, desired to use it to conquer space and time. However, the God Machine instead telepathically drew Raphael to itself and he willingly joined with it, his recent experiences making it complete.
