She is a private investigator. She searches for the missing teenagers. She teams up with Paul Grogan to find them. Through her enthusiasm in finding them and because of a lack of respect regarding rules and other people´s homes she unwittingly caused the Piranha disaster. For the rest of the movie she and Paul do everything to limit the damage they caused having to fight unbelievers and the military on the way, who want to cover everything up ignoring the corresponding risks on the way.
