A mercenary (merc for short), sometimes also called soldier of fortune, is a soldier who fought or worked in other ways (mostly in those involving violence) for any faction in exchange for a desirable amount of money. Sometimes, the word mercenary is used as a derogatory term for someone who valued credits over other things, such as ideals or kinship. During the years of the Great Galactic War and the Cold War that followed it circa 3,653 BBY, the term "mercenary" is used to refer to a specific breed of armored bounty hunter. These mercenaries served the resurgent Sith Empire and were known for their use of dual-wielded guns, missile launchers, and dealing high amounts of damage in battle.
