Kavis Alpha IV was a planet located somewhere in the space of the galaxy's Alpha or Beta Quadrants, the fourth planet in orbit of the Kavis Alpha star system. the USS Enterprise-D dropped off a colony of nanites that were infecting the computer core. The nanites developed a collective intelligence and consciousness and went to war with the crew after scientist Paul Stubbs killed some of the nanites. Peace was eventually made and Captain Jean-Luc Picard declared them a new civilization and gave them the planet as their homeworld. (TNG episode: "Evolution")
