Roran Garrowsson, nicknamed "Stronghammer", was a human warrior and Varden leader during the final years of the war against Galbatorix. The son of Garrow and Marian, paternal grandson of Cadoc, he was a first cousin to both Eragon and Murtagh. He was about a year younger than Murtagh but two years older than Eragon, but he and the latter were both so close, however, that they considered each other brothers.
