Dan Zappieri made her first appearance 9 March 1996. he is portrayed by Carl Pizzie. He was out of work and had just opened a bar with fellow actor Nick Pickard when he was cast as Dan. EastEnders was his first major television role. Pizzie relished the chance to play a bad guy role, as he had only ever played "regular guys" before.
