Manta Oyamada, while taking a shortcut through the cemetary, meets a strange kid by the name of Yoh Asakura. Not just hanging out in cemetaries at night Yoh can also see ghosts. Yoh is a shaman who, through much influence of his fiancee, wants to become shaman king. However, he has to compete with the other Shamans to do so.
