He played three seasons for the Edmonton Eskimos in the Canadian Football League. He was the founder and owner of the Southwest Championship Wrestling promotion franchise. His son is former Four Horseman wrestler Tully Blanchard. Blanchard was the trainer of wrestling legend Dusty Rhodes.
