Gauch was a smuggler on Dubrillion in 25 ABY, at the start of the Yuuzhan Vong War; he worked for Lando Calrissian. When the Vong attacked the planet at the start of the war, he was one of the pilots in the rag-tag starfighter fleet who defended the world. He piloted the TIE bomber TB-1. He was killed in the battle when the Belt Runner I's shield failed, and he took enemy fire.
