An Imperial Adjunct was a title and rank given to special officers of the Klingon Empire that were attached to the Klingon Defense Force. The position was created in the 24th century following the discovery of the Bajoran wormhole. This placement in the Klingon hierarchy was created by the Klingon High Council and Chancellor Gowron in order for such officers to be stationed on starships assigned on exploratory missions in the Gamma Quadrant. These officers were tasked with avoiding any misunderstanding that occured during the Empire's First contact situations.
