After Guts accepts Balzac's offer to retrieve the Mandragora Heart for him, Gyove is given the task to kill the swordsman once he fulfilled his part of the bargain. Gyove first makes his move by attacking the rebels' base, killing everyone save Casca who he takes captive and Rita, letting the latter run off to find Guts. Gyove later reaches the village, having it set on fire while killing some of the Mandragorans. But Eriza's sacrifice and the sudden appearance of Nosferatu Zodd forces Gyove and his men to flee. Gyove later leads a last line of defense against Guts when he mounts an assault on the castle, his fate not revealed.
