Herbert Siddall was a contestant in the Superbrain quiz contest held in the Rovers in May 1976 in which he answered questions on his specialist subject of Manchester United, much to the derision of Stan Ogden who had also used this subject in his first round win before being sabotaged by the regulars in his efforts to take part in the second round on the subject of the Western Desert campaign, however it became abundantly clear that his knowledge wasn't as extensive as he thought. On that occasion, Bet Lynch stepped in and won on the subject of films. This time though, Herbert beat her. Stan was vocal in stating that Herbert's questions were far too easy.
