Pikmin was the first game in the Pikmin series to be released. It was released on the Nintendo GameCube. It was the 4th game released for the console, after Luigi's Mansion, Super Monkey Ball, and Wave Race: Blue Storm. Three years later, its sequel, Pikmin 2, was released in 2004. Nine years later, it received another sequel, Pikmin 3, which was released in 2013 for the Wii U.
