Verzhik was a planet proximate to the Federation, home to a native race, the Verzhik. Sometime before 2279, they had achieved warp drive, and made first contact with the Federation. In 2279, the combined radiation of the Minara and Beta Niobe supernovae reached Verzhik, doing considerable damage to their ecosphere. The Federation provided significant help in Verzhik's recovery, although they were unable to fulfill promises to bring preeminent terraformer Marat Lon from Mestiko to this world.
