Details: Kevin Hughes was a chart researcher for Cash Box Magazine in Nashville, Tennessee. He was in charge of compiling the independent country chart. On March 9, 1989, Kevin and his friend Sammy Sadler went to Sammy's work so he could use the phone. As they returned to Kevin's car, they were both shot several times by an unknown gunman. Sammy survived, but Kevin later died. After his murder, speculation was he had been killed in a dispute connected to his work.
