The Elf Maidens were only mentioned in a song, which was sung by the Elves of Rivendell when Bilbo Baggins stopped there on his way home from his adventures with the Dwarven company, Smaug, and the Battle of the Five Armies. Elf Maiden could also be a term used to refer to an unmarried female elf.
