As David Barlow's colleagues at Ajax Engineering sent him off on his footballing career, the friendly Foreman chatted to him about his decision to leave a solid trade, and guessed that David's mother wasn't too pleased by his departure. The foreman revealed he had a son once, a couple of years older than David, who was killed in Cyprus. The foreman told David to make it as easy as possible for his mother, and told him that if he didn't like the look of his new life, he would try and squeeze him back in at Ajax. David was grateful for the offer.
