The R-5162 photonic missile was a Federation-designed photonic missile that was designed to be mounted on attack fighters. Valkyrie-class fighters could mount eight of these weapons or two full-sized photon torpedoes. They could kill a runabout if a direct hit could be scored with this missile. They were 2.1 meters long and had a 20-cm diameter. However, they were not designed to blast asteroids. (Star Trek: False Vacuum: "Black Tornado")
