C. Black was a Human male who served as a Military Assault Command Operations soldier during the mid-22nd century. In 2153, Azar was assigned as part of the MACO detachment aboard the starship Enterprise NX-01 for the mission into the Delphic Expanse. After Enterprise returned to Earth in 2154, Azar remained aboard as part of the MACO Detachment. He was one of the volunteers who would join the mission to board the Xindi weapon on February 13, 2154. Lieutenant Reed chose M. Romero, M. Forbes, and W. Woods, and he remained on board Enterprise.
