Exar Kuen was a human male Dark Lord of the Sith and Galactic Emperor during an era of uncertainty. His entire reign as emperor was threatened by assassin's and plotting Sith Lord's, he had to fight off all his new rivals. By the time he organized an investigation into the threats on his life, many within the Empire wanted him dead and replaced, either by one of his children or an enterprising Sith. He discovered that one man was the sole reason for starting the infighting, he resolved to kill him in the hopes he could restore the fragmenting Empire.
