The River of Sand is a location from The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. It is the first of two trials that Link must overcome in the Haunted Wasteland. As its name suggests, the River of Sand is a river of flowing quicksand. In order to successfully cross it, Link must either equip the Hover Boots and walk across or use the Longshot to grapple on to one of the three boxes at the top of the hill. If Link attempts to cross the River of Sand without the aforementioned methods, he will be sucked down into the quicksand and reappear at the entrance to the Haunted Wasteland.
