Jerome Chaane was a male hybrid of mixed human, Vulcanoid, Tiburon, and other genetic heritage. In 2268, he held the rank of Lieutenant, and served as a security officer aboard the USS Enterprise under Captain James T. Kirk. That year, he took part in a landing party on planet Sigma Niobe II. Chaane was the only crewmember who was aware of the presence of the Coalescence among the crew, monitoring them by means beyond those known in the mid 23rd century.
