Hoping to determine the cause and cure of Raphael's secondary mutation, Donatello used a patch of fur he had taken from Hamato Splinter during his funeral to clone a mindless body, in order to have access to well-maintained biomass that contained the Mutagen. However, during his testing, Donatello found out that the Splinter they had cremated was not the same Splinter that had raised and trained them.
