borhya was the Bajoran word for spirit, soul, or ghost. When Ro Laren and Geordi La Forge were accidentally cloaked with an interphase generator in a transporter accident, Ro believed that they were dead and were walking the ship as borhyas. Ro remembered the time when she was growing up and never really gave much thought about all the talk about borhyas but merely dismissed it as superstition passed on to children.
